WHERE ARE YOU BASED?
I am based in Yorkshire and are happy to do shoots around York and some surrounding areas. If you contact me, we can discuss the places where you feel comfortable for your family to shoot. For performance photography I am happy to discuss travel.
WHERE WILL OUR FAMILY SHOOT TAKE PLACE?
We’ll choose a location that suits your family and the kind of photographs you’d love. That might be woodland, open countryside, a favourite park or somewhere that means something special to you. I have plenty of favourite spots around York if you need some inspiration.
WHAT SHOULD WE WEAR?
The most important thing is that you feel comfortable and like yourselves. Neutral, earthy and complementary colours photograph beautifully outdoors although I am a big believer in what makes you feel happy and your families style. If you are unsure, once you’ve booked, I can also help with outfit ideas that works for your style. For portrait/ headshot shoots, plain, bright colours can work really well.
HOW LONG DOES A FAMILY SESSION TAKE?
Family sessions are relaxed and unhurried, usually lasting around 45–60 minutes. There’s plenty of time for little ones to explore, have a break or warm up to the camera, there’s no need to rush.
WHAT IF MY CHILDREN DON’T COOPERATE?
Please don’t worry, children being themselves is exactly what I want! There’s no pressure to sit still or smile on demand. We’ll keep things relaxed and fun, giving them time to play, explore and settle in while I capture the natural moments in between.
DO WE NEED TO KNOW HOW TO POSE?
Not at all. I’ll gently guide you when needed, but I’m much more interested in genuine connection than perfect poses. Expect walking, cuddling, playing and laughing together while I capture your family naturally.
WHAT IF THE WEATHER IS BAD?
A cloudy day certainly won’t stop us, it can actually make for beautiful photographs! If the weather really isn’t suitable for an outdoor session, we’ll simply rearrange. I’ll keep an eye on the forecast and stay in touch as your session approaches. Sometimes rainy day photos make the best images.
WHAT HAPPENS AFTER OUR SHOOT?
I’ll carefully edit the best photographs from your session and send you a private online gallery to enjoy at home. From there, you can choose your favourite digital images or select the full collection, with the option to order beautiful prints and products too.
